Union Academy will be presented with the National School of Character Award on Monday, August 29, 2016. Being awarded this is an incredible honor for our school, its founders, faculty/staff, students, parents, and community. Our kids deserve it, and they deserve seeing us as role models for character. Make sure to share this celebration on your social media...tell the world how great Union Academy is! #WeAreUA #GotCharacter? #CARROTPI

The authors, Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome, met through Twitter conversations about education and finally met at a conference...which led to them writing Kids Deserve It. Our beginning teachers and mentors are reading this book for their book study this year.
One chapter that specifically was inspiring to me discussed taking chances in your classroom...going out on a limb. Below is an excerpt from this chapter:
Please take a moment to participate in a discussion with our middle school teachers by logging into the middle school Canvas page. (Open the course and click on DISCUSSIONS and then on Go Out On A Limb.)

Sunday night, I had the pleasure of hearing our character education speaker, Lonnie Moore. Thank you to those of you who attended; we had a great turn out. Mr. Moore will also be our speaker for the half day on Monday. Look at my next blog for more information about his speech.
